E-cigarettes are ubiquitous and rarely make the news. Perhaps today you would like to focus on the pros and cons of e-cigarettes. There are many horror stories about e-cigarettes, but are they really a dangerous trend, or an effective way to quit smoking?

Electronic cigarettes, known as e-cigarettes or vape pens, are battery-powered devices that mimic the act of smoking, providing nicotine (in most cases) but without the toxic effects of tobacco smoke. They have taken off in a wave of popularity worldwide since their invention and are growing in popularity.

More people may be using them, but e-cigarettes are not harmless. A 2016 study published in Environmental Science & Technology identified vape pen vapor harmful emissions, including possible carcinogens and irritants, although at much lower levels than regular cigarettes.

This passage is going to talk about the followings of the vape pen:

1) Is vape pen safe? - Nicotine and your heart

2) Altitude towards vape pens

3) Stop Smoking and Vaping

1)   Is vape pen safe? - Nicotine and your heart

Although highly addictive, nicotine poses no significant health risks to people without heart disease. It does not cause acute cardiac events or coronary heart disease, and it is not carcinogenic. But nicotine is a problem for people with heart disease. It raises the heart rate and runs counter to the goals of most treatments. Tell your general practitioner if you have heart disease and are using nicotine replacement.

2)   Altitude towards vape pens

More research is needed on the long-term effects of nebulization on your heart and blood vessels and how people can most effectively use e-cigarettes to quit smoking.

A study published in November 2019 by the University of Dundee, funded by the British Heart Foundation, suggests that vaporization may be less harmful to your blood vessels than smoking. Within just one month of switching from e-cigarettes to e-cigarettes, measures of vascular health, including blood pressure and arterial stiffness, had begun to improve. The study looked at 114 people who smoked at least 15 cigarettes a day for at least two years. This is a relatively small number of people, and the study does not prove that vaping is completely safe.

Professor Jeremy Pearson, deputy medical director of the British Heart Foundation, said: "This study shows that vaping is less harmful to your blood vessels than smoking. Within just one month of ditching e-cigarette smoke, people's blood vessel health began to recover.

"Just because e-cigarettes are less harmful than tobacco doesn't mean they are completely safe. We know that they contain significantly less of the harmful chemicals that cause smoking-related diseases, but we still don't know the long-term effects on the heart and circulation or other aspects of health. E-cigarettes and e-cigarettes should never be used by people who don't already smoke, but it may be a useful tool to help people quit smoking altogether.

"Quitting smoking is the only thing you can do that is good for your heart health. If you want to quit smoking, don't go it alone. A range of free support is available, including local stop smoking services, which will help you find the best way to quit and increase your chances of success.

3)   Stop Smoking and Vaping

Smoking-related diseases cause about 100,000 deaths each year in the UK. The majority of these deaths are caused by one of three diseases: lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and coronary heart disease.

According to a 2019 YouGov survey, more than 3.6 million adults in the UK use e-cigarettes, representing 7.1 percent of the adult population. Of these users, 54% are ex-smokers, suggesting that they are helping people to quit smoking.

Martin Dockrell, head of the UK Department of Public Health's Tobacco Control Program, said: "People may be surprised at how much easier it is to quit smoking with e-cigarettes. Almost certainly, any smoker with heart disease has tried to quit in the past and failed. Try using an e-cigarette and try again, as you may find it much easier. Further down the line, you may want to quit e-cigarettes as well."

Mr. Dockrell added, "We know that e-cigarettes may not be completely safe, but that's not the problem. The question is, are e-cigarettes safer than the alternatives? ...... It is very important that smokers understand how much safer e-cigarettes are compared to smoking."
